Orkla Friends Fund:

Orkla Confectionery & Snacks Sverige chooses My Special Day (Min Stora Dag)

Min Stora Dag

My Special Day has been designated by Orkla Confectionery & Snacks Sverige to receive NOK 100,000 from the Orkla Friends Fund, and 150 ill children can look forward to attending the 2016 Melody Festival.

My Special Day is a Swedish charitable foundation that works to give ill children in Sweden a break from their daily hospital routine. This year, more than 3000 children with an illness were able to participate in a variety of activities organised and funded by the foundation, which has Her Royal Highness Princess Madeleine as its patron.

Orkla Confectionery & Snacks Sverige has chosen My Special Day as the recipient of the Orkla Friends Fund’s November award. They have also worked closely with the foundation to find a specific use for the grant of NOK 100,000.

“We think the Melody Festival is a great competition and we know that many children are thrilled to attend it. We’re delighted to be able to contribute to one of My Special Day’s group activities, and since the festival’s semi-finals are spread throughout the country, from north to south, the award will benefit children all over Sweden,” says Stina Petrini, Communications Manager at Confectionery & Snacks Sverige.

She adds that the Melody Festival is Sweden’s biggest entertainment programme and a highly popular event wherever the semi-finals are held. OLW has been a proud sponsor of the Melody Festival for over ten years.

About the Orkla Friends Fund

The Orkla Friends Fund was inspired by the desire to live up to Orkla’s new vision, “Your Friend Everyday”. In the new Orkla Compass, the strategic pillars now include a fifth pillar, “Society”, and the Orkla Friends Fund also reflects this focus. The funding will primarily be awarded within the category of “Nutrition and Health”, but “Corporate Responsibility” is an alternative.

MTR Foods in India was the first company to designate a recipient. They chose the Akshaya Patra Foundation to receive the NOK 100,000 contribution in September. Lilleborg Profesjonell chose the Church City MIssion in Norway and its Christmas fundraising campaign, “Make Someone Who is Dreading Christmas Happy”. Orkla Confectionery & Snacks Sverige, which has now selected My Special Day, is passing the relay baton to Odense Marcipan in Denmark, giving it the task of finding a charitable cause to receive NOK 100,000 from the Orkla Friends Fund in December.
