Orkla Growth Prize goes to OFI and MTR Foods
Orkla Food Ingredients and MTR Foods could both take the stage to accept honour, recognition and the most prestigious prize of all at this year’s Orkla Growth Awards.
The Orkla Food Ingredients (OFI) business area and Orkla’s Indian food company MTR Foods operate in totally different geographical markets and have different products and brands. But traits that both winners have in common are a long history rich in tradition, and obvious continuity, loyalty and pride in being part of Orkla.
A decisive factor for the jury’s conclusion that both deserved to take home the Orkla Growth Prize trophy is the strong growth that they can demonstrate. OFI, which also won the Orkla Growth Prize last year, can boast twelve consecutive quarters of broad-based EBITA growth ranging from 10 to 40 per cent. MTR Foods has averaged 18 per cent EBITA growth every year since 2007.
OFI and MTR Foods were presented with their prizes at the Orkla Growth Awards ceremony at Clarion Hotel & Congress Malmö Live, Sweden, on Wednesday evening.
The other awards presented were:
- Best Core Business Innovation: Orkla Foods Sverige (Felix)
- Best Packaging: Orkla Confectionery & Snacks Norge (Bixit)
- Best Advertising: Jotun (Jotun Global Campaign)
- Best New Launch: Orkla Foods Sverige (Paulùns Superlunch)
- Best Operations Award: KiMs Danmark (Lean Improvement Program in the factory)
- Best Sales Growth Innovation: Orkla Foods Norge (100 %-butikken – “the 100% store”)
- One Orkla: Orkla Health Danmark, Orkla Foods Danmark and KiMs, Danmark (Orkla Danmark Logistics Solution).
“Successful innovations are crucial to Orkla’s ability to create profitable growth in both the long and short term. Moreover, we must act as ‘one Orkla’, collaborating across companies, national borders and business areas while at the same time leveraging our local consumer insight and proximity to our markets. After seeing the high standard set by this year’s finalists and winners of the Orkla Growth Awards, I am convinced that we are on the right track,” says Orkla President and CEO Peter A. Ruzicka.
This year the Orkla Growth Awards were held for the 16th time. A total of 163 nominations spanning seven growth and innovation categories were submitted, from which 38 finalists were chosen. A new feature this year was the introduction of “One Orkla” as a separate category, as opposed to last year when it was an independent special award.
This year’s jury has consisted of Peter A. Ruzicka, Karl Otto Tveter, Atle Vidar Nagel-Johansen, Ann-Beth Freuchen, Pål Eikeland, Stig Egbert Nilssen, Johan Clarin, Kari Lindtvedt, Rune Myrmel, Mirjam Hamnen and Arve Heltne.
