For the third year in a row, Orkla has made the Dow Jones Sustainability Europe Index.

The Dow Jones Sustainability Indices are updated annually, and the 2013 results were announced on 12 September. The indices give weight to companies' ability to manage sustainability trends in a way that reinforces their long-term profitability.

Orkla is included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Europe Index, comprised of the top 20 per cent of a total of 600 European companies. Orkla is one of four companies in the FOA Food Products category, along with Danone, Nestlé and Unilever. Across all categories, four Norwegian companies –Telenor, Storebrand, Norwegian Hydro and Orkla – are represented on the prestigious Dow Jones list.

“The Orkla companies work systematically to ensure safe products, good workplaces and sustainable production. To be included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Europe Index is recognition of this work and makes us proud," says Ellen Behrens, Vice President for Corporate Responsibility.

As a leading Nordic Consumer Goods producer, Orkla is committed to contributing to a sustainable value chain for food.

“Working for food safety, nutrition and health, responsible purchasing and the environment requires daily efforts from all of our companies, and the Dow Jones assessment inspires us to strive even further,” says Behrens.
