Continous focus on improvement

To increase Orkla's competitiveness, continuous efforts are made to improve the Group's work and production processes. In 2006, Orkla launched cost reduction programmes aimed at achieving total savings of NOK  1.7 billion in the period up to 2008, measured against the cost base at the end of 2005. At the end of 2008, the results of these programmes had well exceeded the target, and new targets for cost-effectiveness and improvement programmes have been set.

Improvement orientation is one of the most important value drivers at Orkla, and the Corporate Development Operations, Corporate Development Purchasing and Corporate Development Marketing & Sales departments have specialised expertise that is used throughout the Group. In addition, each business area maintains ongoing focus on improvements at every stage of the value chain.
