Orkla’s Board of Directors has appointed Bjørn M. Wiggen (50), President and CEO of Sapa, as President and CEO of Orkla to succeed Dag J. Opedal. Mr Wiggen will take up his new position today.

Timothy R. J. Stubbs (43) has been appointed new President and CEO of Sapa effective immediately. He will also be a member of Orkla’s Group Executive Board.

Orkla renews sponsorship agreement with Nobel Peace Center

Orkla ASA and the Nobel Peace Center have entered into a partnership contract for a further three years. This contract involves payments from Orkla for Peace Center activities of a total of NOK 9 million.

Site complete for “Orkla Children’s Village” in Vietnam

Orkla is financing an entire SOS Children’s Village in Vietnam. Construction work on the Children’s Village will start according to plan sometime in 2010 and hopefully be completed in 2012.

Solid improvement in operating profit and sales

Sapa forms a joint venture with China’s largest aluminium company

Sapa and Aluminium Corporation of China Limited (Chalco) have signed a memorandum of understanding to form a joint venture (JV) to serve the rapidly growing Chinese rolling stock market. The JV will be a 50/50 joint venture between Chalco and Sapa. Read more on sapagroup.com
