Orkla's new Singapore office has just been opened, with all the celebration such an occation calls for. (10.09.2009)

The new office of Orkla Asia Pacific with the Orkla logo is about to become a landmark in Singapore's Chinatown now, - especially among Scandinavians.

The new office premises were officially inaugurated by Orkla's chairman Stein Erik Hagen. In his speech, he highlighted the growth of business activities in Singapore and in the region. The office is shared by Borregaard, Elkem Materials and Elkem Chartering, Axellus, Sapa and Orkla Asia Pacific.

As a characteristic feature of such a ceremony the "lion dance" took place in every corner of the office, to bless the operations and to secure good luck and prosperity for Orkla’s employees and business.

Around 115 participants were present at the occation, out of which customers, banks, other business associates and people from Orkla, Jotun, Axellus, Borregaard, Elkem, MTR and REC participated. Representatives from the local REC and Jotun management were also present. Mr Hagen was accompanied at the Asia tour by his wife Mille Marie Treschow and board member Mr Peter Ruzicka.

After the inauguration Stein Erik Hagen inspected REC's new fully integrated solar plant located in Tuas, north in Singapore. Asked about his impression of the project, Mr Hagen stated that he was very impressed regarding the enormous development that had taken place over the last 16 months. He last visited the site in April 2008, together with Orkla's Board of Directors, prior to the project start. Additionally, he praised the project management and all the employees for good project handling.
