Sale of Viking Fottøy

The footwear business has not been among the Group’s strategic priority areas in recent years. After a period of poor performance, the company is now doing well. A contract has been signed for the sale of the Viking Fottøy to the Dutch company Hevea B.V. effective from the beginning of next year, subject to the necessary official approval, board approval and some customary conditions.

Viking Fottøy’s operating revenues totalled approximately NOK 270 million in 1998, and Orkla’s gain from the sale will be approximately NOK 60 million.
