Axellus buys an interest in Proteinfabrikken

Axellus AS is buying 16.7 per cent of the shares in the Stokke-based company Proteinfabrikken AS.

Proteinfabrikken and its subsidiaries operate in the Nordic region and are Norway’s largest supplier of protein-based products for training and dietary purposes . The company has its own production facility in Stokke, Vestfold, and markets and sells both internally manufactured and other sports nutrition products, mainly through its online store. The company was established in 2001 and has 19 employees. Proteinfabrikken had a turnover of NOK 111 million in 2013. A small part of its turnover comes from the Swedish, Danish and Finnish markets.

“Proteinfabrikken is a key sports nutrition supplier and has extensive expertise in online sales and distribution. Axellus considers this an exciting opportunity to get a foot in the door in an interesting market segment,” says Tine Hammernes Leopold, Commercial Director at Axellus.

Axellus’ and Proteinfabrikken’s target groups and product ranges are largely complementary, and the companies will continue to operate entirely independently of one another. In the future, however, it may become relevant to distribute some Axellus products through Proteinfabrikken’s online store.

Axellus has an option to take over the rest of the company.
