To strengthen long-term competitiveness, a review of the overall manufacturing footprint has been initiated at corporate level in Orkla. As part of the overall review, Orkla Confectionery & Snacks Finland Ab is evaluating its snacks and frozen product operations.
At a meeting today, the employees have been informed of the co-determination process covering all personnel on Åland, as well as the sales and marketing personnel in Vantaa, now to be commenced. The employee representatives will play a key role in the coming process.
“At present, Orkla has several factories with comparable technology and production in the Nordics and Baltics. We currently have too much capital tied up in maintenance and the operation of these production facilities. Going forward, we need to direct even more of our resources towards growth and innovations. To ensure our future competitiveness, we need to evaluate the factory network, and we are now starting the evaluation of Orkla Confectionery & Snacks Finland’s factory in Haraldsby,” says Pasi Flinkman, CEO of Orkla Confectionery & Snacks Finland.
The co-determination process will start in week 6, and is expected to take approximately six weeks. After the process has been completed, a recommendation will be submitted to the Board of Directors of Orkla Confectionery & Snacks Finland.
