For the second consecutive year, Orkla has been recognised on the Dow Jones’ European Sustainability Index.
The Dow Jones’ Sustainability Indexes rank companies based on their ability to exploit sustainability trends in a way that strengthens future profitability. Each year, the 2500 largest companies in the world are analysed and, of that number, the top 10 per cent are named in each category. Orkla is listed on Dow Jones’ European Sustainability Index, which includes a total of 600 companies. Altogether, five Norwegian companies (Telenor, Storebrand, Norsk Hydro, DNB and Orkla) are listed on the Dow Jones’ prestigious indexes this year.
“Responsible operations are a deeply ingrained aspect of Orkla’s corporate culture and, in recent years, we have augmented our efforts in areas that hold new challenges. Many Orkla companies have obtained good results in fields such as energy conservation, resource management, the development of products with a favourable health or environmental profile, and improvement work in the supplier chain. It is a great honour for us to be recognised on the Dow Jones’ Sustainability Indexes, and it provides inspiration for our improvement work,” comments Ellen Behrens, vice president, CR.
