Orkla reports moderate underlying profit growth in the second quarter

In the second quarter, Orkla’s reported operating revenues declined by 5.4% to 16.7 billion. The organic revenue development was flat for the consolidated portfolio companies, while negative currency translation effects weighed on reported numbers.

Orkla’s consolidated portfolio companies (including Orkla ASA) delivered underlying EBIT (adj.) growth of 2.5% year-over-year. EBIT (adj.) for the Orkla group amounted to 1.8 billion, a decline of 5.3%, mainly explained by negative currency translation effects.

Profit from Jotun increased by 17% to 494 million. Jotun’s sales growth was 11%, and operating profit growth was 21%, when adjusting for negative currency translation effects.

Earnings per share (adj.) for the quarter was NOK 1.60, up 2.6% compared to the same period last year.

Orkla paid 6 billion in dividends to shareholders during the quarter. In July, the company completed its share buyback programme, having repurchased shares for 4 billion since November 2025.

Several of the portfolio companies have recently announced acquisitions that will strengthen their positions in prioritised categories and markets, including Orkla Foods, Orkla Food Ingredients and Orkla Snacks. The largest of these is Orkla Snacks’ acquisition of The European Candy Group, which will support the continued growth of BUBS and enable its expansion into new markets.

“While growth in the quarter was below our ambitions, I am encouraged by the portfolio companies’ continued focus on strengthening volume growth and cost efficiency. We also announced several acquisitions that provide a platform for future organic growth in the portfolio. Lastly, I am impressed that Jotun once again delivered strong results in a demanding market, adapting quickly to the exceptional challenges posed by the conflict in the Middle East,” says Orkla President and CEO Nils K. Selte.
